FAQs

  • What types of organizations do you work with?

I partner with small businesses, nonprofits, and growing organizations that need HR expertise without the cost of a full-time hire. Whether you have 1, 5, or 100+ employees, I can tailor support to your needs.

  • What industries do you have experience in?

I’ve supported leaders and organizations across a wide range of industries, including:

Security, Military & Federal Government, Logistics & Supply Chain, Hospitality, Healthcare, Information Technology (IT) & SaaS, Staffing & Recruitment, Call Centers, Collision Repair, Nonprofit (faith-based & community), Corporate Services / Administration

  • Do you only work with certain industries?

No. While I have deep experience in the industries listed, the principles of HR—compliance, leadership, employee relations, and culture—apply across every sector. My services are tailored to your unique organization, no matter your field.

  • Can you support faith-based organizations?

Yes. I’ve partnered with many faith-based organizations, providing HR expertise that respects and aligns with their mission, culture, and values.

  • Can you also support secular organizations?

Absolutely. While my personal values are rooted in biblical principles, my services are professional, inclusive, and designed to meet the needs of all organizations—secular or faith-based.

  • What makes Your HR Guru different?

I bring 30+ years of HR leadership experience, faith-informed values, bilingual (English/Spanish) capability, and practical solutions that protect your people and your business. My expertise has been tested in the toughest environments—leading through the battlefield with the U.S. Army, navigating the LAX airport shooting, and supporting organizations under the pressures of cartel suspicion. These experiences have shaped a steady, proven approach to HR leadership that stands strong in both everyday challenges and extraordinary crises.

  • Can you help with compliance?

Yes. I provide policy guidance, handbook development, leave of absence tracking, ADA accommodations support, and employee relations expertise—all aligned with federal and state requirements. In addition, I bring over 10 years of experience leading HR departments in California, giving me deep expertise in one of the most complex compliance environments in the nation.

  • Do you process payroll?

Yes. While I don’t consult on payroll strategy or large-scale implementations, I can process payroll for smaller organizations to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.

  • How do you charge for payroll processing?

I keep payroll pricing simple: your cost is based on the number of employees and my ad hoc consulting rate. This way, smaller organizations only pay for what they need, and your estimate is always clear up front.

  • What payroll systems do you use?

I can work with common small-business payroll platforms such as Paychex, ADP Run, Gusto, and Paylocity. If you already have a provider, I’ll adapt to your system for seamless processing.

  • Do you provide services in Spanish?

Yes! I provide meetings, trainings, policies, and templates in both English and Spanish to ensure your entire workforce feels included and informed.

  • Can you support both English- and Spanish-speaking employees at the same time?

Absolutely. I regularly facilitate bilingual trainings and meetings, ensuring everyone feels included and informed.

  • Do you work onsite?

No. All services are delivered virtually. This ensures flexibility, accessibility, and cost savings for your organization—no matter where you’re located.

  • Do I need to commit to a long contract?

Ad hoc services are flexible—available hourly or by project, so you choose what works best for your organization. Retainer packages include a simple contract to ensure clarity and consistency.

  • Why do you require contracts for retainer packages?

To ensure clarity and mutual understanding, all retainer agreements are documented in a simple contract that outlines services, hours, and billing terms. This protects both your organization and my commitment to providing consistent HR support.

  • How much does it cost?

Rates vary depending on the service: hourly, flat-rate projects, and retainers are available. My pricing is designed to be clear, flexible, and far less than the cost of a full-time HR Director.

  • Do you require payment upfront?

For hourly and project services, payment is due before work begins. For retainer packages, invoices are issued monthly according to the contract.

  • Can I set up recurring payments?

Yes. Retainer clients often choose auto-pay or recurring invoices for convenience.

  • What if we only need help once in a while?

That’s perfectly fine! Many clients start with hourly or project-based work before moving into a retainer. My goal is to be the HR partner you can call when you need help most.

  • Do you offer a customer service guarantee?

Yes. My commitment is to deliver high-quality HR support with professionalism, care, and clear communication. If something isn’t working, I encourage clients to let me know right away so we can adjust and make it right.

  • How do you gather client feedback?

I use surveys and check-ins to ensure you’re getting the support you need. Your feedback helps me refine services and continue delivering excellent results.

  • Do you offer reimbursements if we’re not satisfied?

Because HR services involve time, expertise, and compliance guidance, I don’t provide refunds. However, I’m committed to addressing concerns promptly and ensuring you receive value from the services you purchase.
